About

An established South African Boerboel program

South Florida Boerboels is built on decades of experience with working, hunting, and companion dogs. Since the 1990s — and with Boerboels since 2010 — our focus has remained consistent: sound temperament, functional ability, intelligence, and the physical capability to do the job a dog was bred to do.

We were originally drawn to the Boerboel because we wanted a substantial, powerful dog with the natural presence to deter a threat, but also the intelligence and judgment to distinguish between a genuine threat and a welcome guest. That combination of power, stability, and discernment remains central to our breeding program today.

Over the years, we have carefully selected dogs from imported South African bloodlines, including Klein Sandfontein, Cabaret, Afrika, Elevation, Spitsvuur, and others. Rather than breeding toward a single look, we select for the qualities that made the Boerboel an exceptional working farm and family guardian in the first place.

Individual dogs and bloodlines have different strengths. Some are more naturally suited to serious property work, while others excel as stable family companions and guardians. Understanding those differences allows us to help match each owner with the Boerboel best suited to their needs.
